What a “service” without these looks like

A raw M3U link is a list of stream addresses. It will play for a while. There is no guide, no catch-up, no backup when a source dies and nobody to ask. It costs almost nothing to sell, and much of the market is consists of exactly that with a website in front of it.

The three components buyers forget to check

Catch-up. The feature people miss most after leaving a cable package, and the one most rarely included.

Both credential formats. If you are only issued an M3U link, you cannot use the players that need Xtream Codes, including most iOS apps.

Monitoring. Not glamorous, but it is the difference between a fault being fixed before you notice and a fault being fixed after you complain.

What is included in an IPTV service?

A complete IPTV service includes live channel delivery, provisioned bandwidth, backup feeds, a seven-day EPG, an on-demand library, catch-up, multi-screen access, both M3U and Xtream Codes credentials, continuous monitoring, human support and transparent billing. A service missing several of these is really just a playlist.

What is the difference between an IPTV service and an M3U playlist?

A playlist is a list of stream addresses with no guide, no catch-up, no backup sources and nobody to contact when a stream dies. A service maintains all of that around the streams, which is what the monthly fee actually pays for.

Does an IPTV service include catch-up TV?

Not always. It is one of the most commonly omitted features. Iptvpro includes a seven-day catch-up window on the main channels on every plan.

How much does a good IPTV service cost?
